The Lebanese Maronite Order

The LMO was born from the heart of the heritage of Syriac Antioch Maronite, by the effort of three Maronite men: Jebrayel HAWWA, Abdallah KARA’LY, & Youssef EL BETN. They came from Aleppo seeking to become monks in the Mount of Lebanon. They dressed the holy Monastic Caps of monks by his sanctity the Patriarch Estephan DOUEIHI on November 10 1695. They took shelter in the monastery of MORT- MOURA–EHDEN. Jebrayel FARHAT joined them later. On June 18, 1700 the Maronite Patriarch affirmed their constitution, followed by the Holy Father EKLIMENDOUS XII on March 31, 1732.

The Order spread its light and sanctity in Lebanon and all over the world, by imitating Christ, by living the Monastic common life, and by the grace of its children’s solid faith, their deep hope and loyal love, and declaring their monastic vows in public. Out of the Order came the well-known Saints Charbel, Rafka, Neematullah and the blessed brother Estephan Nehmeh, and many others who are sleeping in the scent of holiness. Up till our days, the Lebanese Maronite Order (LMO) is still following their path and is pursuing their constant search by prayer and labor. It secured the needs and demands of its people in Lebanon, amongst which are teachings, declaration of the word of God and healings, while abroad they founded missions and schools.
